Cute!

Came with many cute little leaves, some variegated, and a few blooms that look just like the photo. Happy with this one!

It came with a flower!

I was super super excited for this one and it came safely and healthy and with a flower so I got to see it right away instead of waiting. The flower didn’t last long but I am now so looking forward to having it bloom again. I LOVE LOVE LOVE shopping here at Violet Barn. I think I’m obsessed!

Reviving a past interest

This past summer I got back into African violets after I retired. I had two ribbon winners as a teenager. I have bonsai trees decades old grown from cuttings. I have fifty something air plants. I have cactus. But I had no flowers. I have not had an African violet for about 45 years. I ordered from another company ( minis and semi minis) and they are struggling. However, all the minis and semi miniatures from The Violet Barn are doing very well. One difference is that every violet from VB appears to be very young. None out of 14 violets over a three month period arrived with blossoms except one. Most had no buds. They are now all budding profusely, and three have blossoms. My first bud opened on Pixie Runaround Sport and is true to the description. It is a very nice AV and the only trailer in my small collection of 24. I have had great difficulty in repotting the AVs from the other company. The plants are older and more established. The potting mix is mostly peat and difficult to remove. VBs potting mix crumbles away from the roots making repotting and survival more likely. And then again, I may be doing something wrong, but VB’s violets are thriving and SG’s are not doing well. I will order from VB again.
