Bristol's Water Bug

Average Rating 4.8 out of 5

Very blue!

I purchased Water Bug 4 months ago, and it has grown absolutely huge. Even compared to other streptocarpus from the same order, its growth is crazy and has so far only been matched by one other plant: Bristol's Sunbeam (also fantastic). The color and pattern of the blooms are both wonderful, and the bloomstalks are the perfect length. I'd definitely recommend this plant. A bonus tip: put this one next to Bristol's Indigo Eyes and it'll look even more blue!

Bristol's Water Bug is adorable

I am new to streps, and Bristol's Water Bug is my second one. It has been easy to care for and just rewarded me with its first bloom, which is a beautiful med.-dk. purple on the bottom and around the edges with darker veins throughout. I just love the color of it, and it is really taking off (another bud is going to open soon). I'm hooked on streps!

Is a constant bloomer

But so is the Cat Dance. I have both and for the life of me I cannot tell them apart.

Unique color and pattern, constant blooms

I received a Water Bug from Violet Barn as a birthday gift last year and ever since it had its first bloom in its little starter pot, it has been going off constantly. It's easygoing and even tolerated a fertilizer dilution mistake, albeit with some crispy leaf edges. I can't overstate how awesome the color on this is. Between the color and the consistency of the pattern, it's like a work of art. True to the description of the Bristol's varieties, it's much tidier than my other streps with organized, upright flower stalks. I've bought a Fish Lips as a companion for it.

Blue and gorgeous

I have a lot of baby streps in bloom, and this is my favorite for color. I have always been partial to blue, and on my homemade LED stand under 65000k this strep is a brilliant true blue! Has a touch of violet if I bring it out from under the light. Pretty pattern, small leaves and loaded with buds.

If you like blue, this is the strep for you!

Love my Water Bug! Hardly ever without a bloom. Makes me smile every time I look at it. I LOVE blue, if you do too, this is the one for you!

Water Bug!

Absolutely adorable - one of my favorite small, compact streps it is almost always in flower. Flowers are more open and flatter, as well as a bit more blue-purple, than my Cat Dance. Fantastic plant for anyone who is new to growing streptocarpus.

Lovely!

I have had this plant for almost a year. It is a lovely compact strep that throws one blooming spike after another. Mine is darker and more velvety looking than the picture here. It was my first strep. Now I'm hooked! Move over AVs!

Water Bug Streptocarpus

I ordered this streptocarpus as a baby plant and it already had one blossom when it arrived. It truly is as beautiful as its picture!
