very pretty
So far this violet is the one that has grown the fastest and the prettiest of the 5 species violets that I ordered. It is still a very small plant, the leaves are small, round and shiny and I can see it becoming very beautiful. It has not bloomed yet so I cannot comment on the flowers, but I am really looking forward to it.
Another review
I wrote a review on this in August, but I want to write another. I took a small, clear, thin glass bowl and used it as a dome over this plant. It started growing over night. Before that, it just wouldn't grow. I know that some violets prefer more of a "climate" than my central TX house can give them. I'd thought about planting it in the bowl as I'd done with violets in the past, but instead I decided just to dome it. Within a week, I had to change to a larger dome because it had grown so much. The dome isn't closed but sits on plastic grating. So if those in drier, warmer climates are having problems, you might give this a try. Still no blooms because it needs to grow more, but I'm hoping.
Lovely little plant
I have had success with Saintpaulia Ionantha and the S.Diplotricha Punter #7,but I will have to add this to my list of species that didn't like my growing conditions in Texas. It has made it through most of the summer, but it hasn't grown. I am hoping it will make it to the fall, and then maybe it will start to thrive. Our humidity tends to be low, and the velvety leaves do better. This has shinier, slicker leaves.
Awesome!
My mom had one of these plants for over 25 years! Very easy to take care of!
