Love!

I love this plant so much! The blooms are gorgeous! I have loved all the violets I've gotten from this site. I would definitely recommend!

Beautiful plant, but flowers weren't as pictured

I love the color of this plant's leaves--the dark green on top and the deep red on bottom is so beautiful. But each time the plant has bloomed, it's just a (fairly boring) deep purple, no white or pink marks anywhere on the petals. I was told it ported/mutated to the wrong color. I'm hoping that a replacement plant will show me the true beauty of the toxic spill flowers!

This violet takes my breath away every time I see it. The colors are so deep it can pull you into another space Ann Griffin

Growing fast!

Ordered this violet just a few months ago and it has been growing fast and vigorously! Bought for the blooms of course but I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the foliage. Huge, velvety dark green leaves with a deep red-fuchsia backing. All around stunning. I was nervous a plant so beautiful and unusual looking may be temperamental as I am relatively new to violets, but it has been a VERY healthy and sturdy plant.

Just received violets

I'm so excited! I received my violets yesterday and I've got to say that I'm amazed at the care y'all put in packing. I've never seen 3 plants packaged so beautiful! The violets arrived in great shape: great roots, good amount of leaves. No blooms yet but I'm sure they're coming! I would recommend The Violet Barn to anyone who wants great plants, excellent packing and a wonderful website for any questions you may have on how to care for them! I will be purchasing again!

Friend's Plant is Gorgeous!

I know someone who bought this and they just sent me a photo of its first blooms - simply stunning! I had to pop on and order one for myself.

Beautiful

These are so brilliant and gorgeous. I have been doing business with The Violet Barn for nearly 20 years and nothing ever disappoints. They are perhaps the best grower of gesnaraids in the world!

Lovely flowers!

My plant just bloomed last week. I was thrilled that the flowers are every bit as vivid as the picture here. It’s also a very forgiving plant, as if ended up going for quite a while without water. One of my favorites.

Unbelievably hardy!

I must admit, I've abused this plant. After it started blooming, I stuck in a ten gallon fish tank terrarium. I always forget to water it, and it does not get enough light. My nephew always turn off my plant light to watch TV. This plant is HUGE. I'm about to replant it because it's near to pressing against the glass. It's not double crowned either. It still continues to bloom even with h neglect. I really thought I'd have killed it by now. I've made several babies from it and given them to friends. I am extremely impressed with Violet Barn and the quality of their plants!

My first bloomer

My first order with Violet Barn and boy was I in for a delightful surprise. Ma's Toxic Spill was my first bloomer in the order. It was magical! Since then it has constantly been in bloom. I have sent photos to my garden club. Luv It!

One of my favorites

I have had this plant for many years and is one of my favorites. It is very prolific, hardy and beautiful. When I have had to divide the extra hearts, they form true plants. Easy to grow!

Mylittleplant

Bought this at a nursery on our family vacation to Myrtle Beach. It's beautiful.

Really Spectacular

Large plant with spread out leaves. The blooms are constant and abundant on mine in a self-watering ceramic pot. The bright yellow with the dark purple and the crazy spots are really spectacular.

Love this!!!

I received this violet as a gift and absolutely love it. It performs exactly as listed. You need to see this bloom it is exceptional.

Large, heavy bloomer

If you're looking for large foliage, this one's got it! It has been blooming since I got it. Definitely a strong plant that loves to stretch out. Mine prefers quite a bit of light - it will tell you within a day (by reaching) if it's not getting enough light.

Gorgeous, energetic bloomer!

Toxic Spill is one of my favorite violets. The foliage is a bit bigger than the standard and very vibrant. Blooms are lovely and always abundant.

Marta Williams May 06 2014, 18:32 PM

My must have

I hope to always have this one in my collection. Mine shapes and grows well. The blooms get more intense and beautiful as they age a few days. I love this variety.

Cindy Schott Jul 25 2013, 11:12 AM

One of my favorites

This bloom is one of the most beautiful of all African Violets in my opinion. As the bloom ages, the swirls become more evident. I hope to always have one in my collection.

Mas Toxic Spill

Amazing!!! I had never ordered plants online before, and I can say, I sure will again! This little violet came blooming with more on the way. I also ordered "Crime Scene" which arrived ready to pop! They were so carefully packed, I feel any more I order will bring as much pleasure as these. My Violet total now stands at 40...Thank You so much!

Melissa Dugan May 12 2013, 08:45 AM

It's killing me!

Toxic Spill. Get it? Just kidding. I ordered this as a third choice, since all the white hybrids were sold out. Needles to say, I have been very pleasantly surprised with the plant I received. The foliage is very thick, lush, dark and sturdy. It also came loaded with 3 bloom stalks. I have high hopes that this baby will mature into a large gorgeous plant! Now to buy the white ones that are now back in stock!

Irene Struse May 03 2013, 23:09 PM

A winner in my book!

I bought this plant not long ago. I can tell it is going to be a beauty! A very fast growing sturdy plant with large, dark glossy leaves. It is now blooming and the blooms are beautiful! A must have for any collection. Thank you violet barn for all of your wonderful plants!

Priscilla Varney Sep 22 2012, 00:44 AM

Interesting and Well Named

Mine looks much more like the photo than the other reviewers seem to think. No two flowers are the same, which provides nice variety. The base color and size are unremarkable. The dark leaves are nice.

Greg Meissner May 26 2012, 13:09 PM

Gorgeous!

I just got this plant in and was excited to see it already has one full bloom and four about the bloom! The flower is absolutely stunning. The purple shimmers and shines like glitter. The under part of the foliage is a darker shade of pink. The plant arrived healthier then any mail order plant I have ordered. It was packed very carefully and I had absolutely no damage on arrival with my entire order. I am very pleased! You can't go wrong with this plant!

In its Own Color-Class

There are *no words* I can use to describe the beauty of a nice Toxic Spill bloom. This plant is up in my top 2 "must have" plants, to be babied and loved on. The closest I can come to describing the bloom is tri-colored, but that's way inadequate. Even folks who hate the foliage for whatever reason will love this plant's bloom...

Cara Beserra Nov 16 2011, 11:40 AM

Beautiful Blooms

I was nicely surprised when this plant started to bloom. This blooms are more pretty in person this in the pictures. The blooms are large and last a long time.It seems to be a sturdy, but very pretty violet.

Deborah Mordecai Oct 27 2011, 19:15 PM

Excellent

Excellent Plant, One of my Favorites.
