Ma's Jamaica Farewell
This plant is honestly one of the most beautiful violets I've ever owned. Not only its pink blooms but its foliage is a stunning as the blooms.

One of the easiest
Of all the violets I’ve gotten from Violet Barn this one has got to be my favorite because it was so forgiving and hardy. Beautiful and unusual, it looks like it’s finicky but it’s not.

Beautiful and hardy
My plant arrived looking very healthy and robust, and it already had a bloom! I keep it in my eastern window and follow my usual water/fertilizer routine; it already has four new blooms with more buds on the way. I've only had this plant for a couple months, and it's already one of my favorites.
Not my Fave
I wanted to like this hybrid more than I actually do, as I have waited quite a while to be able to grow it. Firstly, the flowers are not double, they are very much single wavy blooms of dark pink. The foliage was not variegated as shown either. I also found it to be a shy bloomer. All in all, just didn't meet the description and therefore my expectations.
My personal favorite
At 15 inches across, with gorgeous pink & green foliage and full of hot pink blossoms, this beauty was the star of our winter show. I had so many requests for leaves, including from one of the judges! That was the one request I couldn't turn down. Was still a novice when I bought Jamaica Farewell from Violet Barn, and two years later, I'm winning top awards with Ma's wonderful hybrids. Thank you to both Ma and Rob!
Ma's Jamaica Farewell
I ordered this violet with my last order...........was very excited to see it. However, due to my furnace not heating properly, I lost several violets including this one. I will be ordering this one again....so totally gorgeous!
A beauty
The blossoms are gorgeous and the foliage comes in as a close second!
Leaves aren't what I expected
I am a little disappointed in this plant. I purchased Feb 2022 and wanted to give ample time before leaving a review on all of the varieties I received. The plant came in very small and sparse and the leaves were dark green with no variegation. 8 months later and the plant is better but there is still no obvious variegation in the leaves. I can see the edges of the leaves ever so slightly a lighter green but nothing like the photos. I've had the plant under grow lights with the same conditions as all my other variegated varieties that are thriving. From the other reviews it sounds like this one is slower to color up so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed this one shows some color soon! VB Note: For more variegation, grow it cooler--variegation is highly dependent upon temperature.

I ordered this plant for it's stunning foliage. It's like nothing I've ever seen. I'm so pleased with it and thankful for Violet Barn!
Jamaica Farewell continues to impress!
I reviewed this violet in October 2021, before it bloomed, but I was already in love with the foliage. It's been blooming, and growing, for nearly a year, and it makes me smile every day! The blossoms are definitely hot pink, and the variegation is a softer pink. It is constantly in bloom, and now well over 12 inches across. Forms a lovely rosette without any fuss from me, and I'm planning to enter with 2 other Ma's varieties in the Collections class at our February show. Thank you for a wonderful African Violet!

The variegation in the leaves is beautiful, and the blooms are lovely, as well. The blossoms are not "very hot-hot pink" for me, but rather a strong shade of purplish-pink. They are frilly! The first blooms came about three months after I received the plant. The plant arrived in perfect condition.
My favorite variegated violet.
This plant grows very symmetrical and the blossoms are beautiful. The bloom sticks with the frilly blossoms grow more of an upward direction on my plant which I like because you can see it better. Such an enjoyable plant.
Beauty
I got this plant 7 months ago and it is growing strong and beautiful! Love the variegated leaves, each leaf is a piece of art to stare at, and then the beautiful cheery blooms are added to the already wonderful foliage. Love it.
Favorite
This is one of my favorite violets. It needs repotting now. I lost many violets while I was sick last year. This one survived, and I am so glad. I would be heart broken to lose it.

Wow!
I can't begin to describe the color of the flowers. My plant has green leaves but from what others say the variation will come. I can't imagine pink leaves and these very deep colored flowers.
I'm in love with the leaves!
Jamaica Farewell came with green leaves just a short few months ago. Settled in well under LED lights, but chose her to move to my sunny window. She's obviously in the right spot, because the variegation on the newer leaves is beautiful. The first buds will open in the next week, and I can hardly wait. Really, just another boringly healthy AV from The Violet Barn, but they never disappoint! And this one is a beauty.
Amazed!
Bought this violet and made mistake of replanting it after receiving. It languished for months and never grew. Thought of throwing it out but watered pot and put in sealed plastic bag for a month. Was amazed to see it thriving and growing. Can't wait for it to flower!!
Blooms are just starting
Received this several weeks ago. My plant is now loaded with buds and should be in bloom any day now. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful color.

Lost this one
Don't know if it was growing conditions but could not get this one to bloom. I am sure she is beautiful. I am now growing with lights and imagine she would do better. I did lose this one.
Excited for the future
This was one of the first plants I ordered. It came in perfect condition. I have never had a variegated violet before so it coming with solid leaves left me perplexed. After reading other reviews it seems normal. After having it about 2 weeks now it is producing new leaves and I can already see some color to them. I am so excited!

Just as described
I have had jamaica farewell for a few months. It came with all green leaves, no multi colored leaves. I waited. The second set of leaves started showing color. The leaves are beautiful and now it is flowering. The flowers are amazing. If you are looking for pink flowers and amazing leaves you need to try this one.
Lovely Plant
I purchased Ma's Jamaica Farewell recently, and I do want to comment that it's a lovely plant. Very little variegation when it arrived, but that was true of all my variegated AVs. I put her in a self-watering planter under grow lights and she seems very happy. I expect that as she adjusts to my environment, the colors will show up. Also looking forward to the flowers!

My Absolute Favorite!
Ma's Jamaica Farewell has everything going for it!! I have had mine for 2 to 3 years and it is about 18" across now. One thing I like about it is that the leaves stand out and lay flat, even by watering time. They do not droop, although I suppose they would if I waited too long to water it. The leaves are beautiful and so are the flowers, which are a bright, vivid pink. It blooms almost continuously! I started a Ma's Jamaica Farewell from a leaf when I re-potted this gorgeous plant. It is now blooming, too. Thank you, Ma, for developing this wonderful African Violet! I buy all of my African Violets from The Violet Barn because they are packaged so carefully and I have received many beautiful AV's from them.
Good bloomer

Received plant on March 2, 2016, plant was small and had about 6 leaves, didn't look very healthy for a nearly 3 month old plant, looks as though it was never fertilized. Trying to get healthy, like it should be.

Mas Jamaica farewell
This was also a Mothers day plant, and it arrived in bloom. She went on and on how pretty it was. It came with several buds and flowers that were the prettiest pink, My mom went on and on about how well it was packed and how good a shape all the plant were in. She was also very appreciative of the directions to unpack them and detailed instructions on their care. She was very pleased with all the violets I sent her.

Maintains Excellent Shape
I ordered this violet in October 2013 and absolutely love everything about it! The plant maintains excellent shape and is full of blossoms when it comes into bloom. This violet is very easy to grow.
Foliage is beautiful!
A nice little established plant arrived - the younger foliage has a little pinkish fringe to it. I broke one leaf unpacking, but that'll be filled in in no time. Very excited to see it grow - I'm thinking as it gets older the foliage will start to turn.

Beautiful variegation
I bought my Jamaica Farewell in August 2012. Now that it has matured it has long elegant stems with pink and green variegated leaves. The flowers are lovely. The plant is absolutely stunning!!!

Easy to grow
I bought this plant a year ago. It has beautiful blooms and is a very lovely plant. My plant does not have the degree of variegation on the leaves as the picture shows but it is still a lovely plant. For the past 3 months it has been in constant bloom. Easy to grow.
I'm a happy newbie!
This plant was one of three in my first Violet Barn order and 6 months later it's looking beautiful. It's still alive and flourishing even with a newbie owner. The plant is beautiful with and without flowers. And the leaves are really pink! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this African Violet!
A year after purchase
I commented a year ago about this plant not having any variegation, but I can honestly say, a year later it has ALOT of pink in the leaves and the newest ones are nearly a solid pink! The flowers are vibrant pink as well. She still grows very flat and will most likely be one I bring to the Desert Sun Display in February. She's about a foot across now...Thanks for a beautiful plant!
Mas Jamaica Farewell What a Beauty!
This lovely has the most beautiful variegation, light pink against the dark is amazing. It arrived in bud so I can't wait to see the hot pink bloom against this unusual leaf color. It is definitely one of my favorites. I recently received 5 plants(first order) from this site and all plants came in very healthy condition with no damage. Unique plants you will definitely not find at local garden centers. The delivery was also very quick, ordered on the weekend, had them on Thursday. Very satisfied customer, will be ordering again and again.
Stunning! One of my favorites
This shockingly beautiful plant is a must have! The foliage is an amazing dark glossy green with a generous helping of creamy white and rich pink variegation. The leaves seem a bit prone to becoming excessively spooned if a lapse in culture occurs, such as a missed watering or late repotting. However its form is excellent and the dark green makes a perfect backdrop for the electrifying hot fushia pink blooms which are borne in abundance. Do include this one on your wish list!

I just received my order and I am very Happy .All the plants I ordered arrived quickly and in perfect condition. My Jamaica Farewell has several large healthy leaves with a lovely purplish underside to the leaf. I cant wait to see it bloom. I don't think it will be all that long since 3 of the 6 plants I received were already n bloom. I will be ordering again ...and again .Very Happy with my order.
My favorite!
Out of the 200+ varieties I have, this is my favorite! The variegated foliage shapes up perfectly and is beautiful on its own. And mine never seems to be without blooms.

Disappointed at first
I was disappointed at first because I thought I received the wrong plant. Mine had dark green leaves and a purple flower. I wrote the company and they assured me that I had the right plant. After 3 weeks of living in a sunny window, I now have pink showing up on th eedges of the new leaves and a pink flower has just opened today. I think this plant is going to be one of my favorites.

Beautiful Foliage
Although my plant has not yet flowered nor is the variegation there yet, but the foliage grows very flat and straight and is RED, RED, RED on the underside. She's gonna be a beauty!
Ma's Jamaica Farewell
I received this 6 months ago. Very healthy on arrival. The pink color on the leaves disappeared quickly, however the blooms were gorgeous. It has been at rest but has new bloom starts. Three times the size from arrival and have transplanted it to a larger pot. Hoping as it matures the pink color in the leaves will return.

I have several "pink" AVs, and in my opinion, this is one of the best. A nice clear pink color, and the foliage, with its edge and back, sets the blooms off to perfection.
