What a surprise!
I decided to branch out a little from just growing AV's and try a Strep! I let the VB choose one for me. They sent Bristol's potpourri! Beautiful little plant arrived with 3 Blooms of pale pink with a yellow throat. Swoon! So delicate looking with the light green foliage. I hope I can grow this jewel as I love it! Thank you VB!
Streptocarpus order
I recently ordered several streptocarpus from the Violet Barn. They sent darling, lush little plants already in bud and with beautiful foliage. They all arrived in awsome condition. Can't wait for the little buds to bloom!
Harlequin Lace
This is my first time owning a streptocarpus and it had been great! The blooms are stunning and seem to last forever. It's currently my favorite plant. After it began to bloom, I transplanted it to a 4 inch pot and she has grown like crazy! Beautiful flowers.
Fun plant to try
My order was for 2 Streptocarpus varieties from Poland that aren't currently available--so this seems a reasonable alternative place to describe my experience. I have grown African Violets, but never tried Streptocarpus before. The plants were small (2" pot as advertised) with two leaves, each about 2" to 3" long. The plants were in excellent shape, with a good set of roots. They adjusted to my pot & window with no problems. I treated them exactly as African Violets, and these plants have grown well. One is blooming steadily as I write (August, 1 year after purchase), and the other just finished blooming. The plants looked silly in 4" pots upon arrival, but they filled out the pot quickly. Now the pot size looks appropriate to me.
Surprise Streptocarpus in Bloom
Please make sure you try a Streptocarpus in Bud or Bloom! It is always such a beautiful surprise!! They come in great shape and are great for home or office.
